I did the math and figured out that each battery costs 44.5 cents (USD). They are "heavy duty" and last as long if not longer than any other AAA battery. And with a pack of 4 being on sale here, you can decide how many packs you want to equal how many total batteries you want--that is, instead of being forced to buy a pack of 20 or 28 or even 100 batteries in order to get a good deal.

(More customer reviews)What can I say? They're 20 alkalines for $5.99! Stock up! Alkalines have a shelf life of years.
I prefer rechargables. But they lose 1/3 of their power per month just sitting around, & sometimes I don't get around to the charger.
2 of these batteries ran my I-River mp3 disk player for 9 hours, & my Grundig Mini 300 World Band Reciever for about 30 hours.
My experience with alkalines is that lifetime between name brands & generics varies by such a small amount it's neglegible.

If you refer to Consumer Reports you will see that with a few exceptions, there is little variation in the life of alkaline batteries of equal sizes between brands. I would recommend these batteries to anyone who does not frequent a Sams Club or Costco: their store brands are a slightly better value.

Back in 1997, I got a sports radio to use in the bathroom during my showers. Everyday (sans vacation days), I used that radio for about 30 minutes. It's the very beginning of January of 2006, and the batteries died last night. How freakin' unbelievable is that? These suckers really do keep going and going and going.

I realize this statement conflicts with others I have read, however, that is my take on it. I have been purchasing these for 2 years and have never been disappointed.

(More customer reviews)Old Review: These bateries seem to be seconds or rejects from the manufaturer.
I purchased two 12-packs of these "D" cell batteries. When I received them I opened both sealed packages and found at least half of the batteries in each pack were dented on the sides near the tops or bottoms and others were scratched. They all have expiration dates of DEC 2017, measured above 1.6 volts and don't seem to be leaking, so they might be just fine. I reported the problem to Amazon so maybe you won't have the same experience.
New Review: I decided to buy some more of these batteries, and this time they were perfect. Even the ones I received before, which were physically damaged on the outside, have worked very well and lasted a long time. I changed the rating from 3 to 5 stars.

(More customer reviews)This is more on the seller than on the product itself. I received a box from seller called 'Lamda life' that has been expired for several months. Though they still worked, obviously they have been sitting in the warehouse somewhere for a very long, long time. Though it also speaks to the quality of these batteries, I just want to give out a warning to all buyers that be careful of the risk of this kind. What is annoying is that it is almost impossible to exchange or return when dealing with smaller sellers. I learned my lesson.

Duracell Procell AA Batteries, 24-Count Review

(More customer reviews)These batteries are a very good choice for an inexpensive alkaline. Heavy duty batteries, are not cost effective because although cheaper, they have a very short run time. To get the best bang for your buck, go for alkalines like these.
The "Procell" designation is basically Duracell's way of marking these batteries as ones intended for industrial applications. They make them as a separate line so they won't directly compete with their consumer lines.
My experience is that these batteries do not last quite as long as the top consumer lines from Duracell and Energizer. However, they are within 10-20% (depending on the application), and are considerably cheaper. So, they are much more cost effective.
Unless you are using them in an application where it is difficult to change the batteries, I recommend going with these instead of spending more.
