(More customer reviews)The idea is seductive, or rather INDUCTIVE. Instead of having a gagillian chargers for all your devices, you simply have a pad, like a mouse pad, that you place your devices on. That's all. Instead of leaving them on the counter, you place them on the pad and the pad charges them for you. But like a number of other ideas that sound wonderful, this one has a long way to go before it's practical.
For one thing, each device needs a special sleeve before it can work with the pad. So in addition to buying the pad (not cheap) you also have to buy a sleeve for each of your devices (cheaper than the pad, but it adds up.) At the time of this writing, the pad is about $70 and this sleeve for the iPhone is about $30. So just to charge your iPhone would cost you $100 when you already have a wall charger for it and third-party USB cables are about $1.
Setting aside the expense for a moment, you still have to slip the case onto the phone each time you want to charge it and take it off when it's done. Let's call it a push in the "economy of motion" department. But if you want to take the system on the road, then you have to pack up the sleeve and the pad. The only reason to do that would be to replace multiple chargers, but then you have to get multiple sleeve and they're not available for many devices. So you're better off packing the original chargers or a universal charger like the Targus Premium Laptop Charger (AC/DC) APM69US that I've previously reviewed.
The bottom line is that this sleeve/pad combination is a novelty item at this time. Check back in 2 years.
